Technically, we are able to celebrate until midnight in Ohio…so birthdays in Shanghai are just that long. Jack was the first to have an overseas birthday. This included a Skype birthday party with a cake, birthday song, and receiving of gifts. It also included visiting venues for possible birthday party options.  John’s birthday followed with not as much glitz, but just as much love.

Dinner at Crystal Jade: a famous dim-sum restaurant with delicious Shanghainese dumplings. Following Chinese tradition, John ate “shou mian.” Eating longevity noodles on your birthday symbolizes good luck in maintaining a long-life.
